Fire Personality Type

Warmth and light are the characteristics of Fire. It is dynamic and moving, lively and colourful, full of spark and vitality. To come into contact with it is to feel its presence. Fire always refers to Life in some way. We are of the Elements therefore we are the Element Fire. The healthy human being needs warmth, is warm, and gives warmth to others. The Fire is the homely hearth which creates the atmosphere of warmth and love. 💖

Fire people are usually willowy with bright eyes, big smiles, and reddish colouring on the neck and chest. They are charming, fun, mischievous, easily excitable, and may change emotional states rapidly. They love change, bright colours, and environments that stimulate.
Fun and variety are the values associated with Fire.

Fire provides warmth, closeness and joy. When Fire is out of balance, it can be difficult to know appropriate contexts for closeness.

Likely behaviours
Inappropriately joyful (compulsively cheerful/miserable) and open with everyone.
Vulnerable, closed off or isolated

Supporting the Element
Give and receive warmth with appropriate people, with varying degrees of intimacy.

To have a healthy FIRE Element it is necessary to cultivate your energy to be like that of the summer time. This means living a more external life by interacting and communicating with others, enjoying the warmth of the sun and being outside as much as possible.
Fire needs us to try to become more creative by doing things (not just thinking about it!) This will bring us the natural joy of living a full and active life.

The following activities that promote and maintain a healthy FIRE Element are:

↠Having fun and being creative (e.g. music, painting and dancing).
↠Being in the now (mindfulness).
↠Working with our wisdom, understanding, intelligence and intuition.
↠Cultivating Universal love
↠Retaining a peaceful heart and mind, without fear.

Diet: Chinese diet is a broad subject very worthy of exploring. The Five tastes: Sour, Bitter, Sweet, Pungent/Spicy and Salty are only one way in which food can be classified. It can also be used according to its ‘energetic nature’ i.e. Hot, Warm, Cold, Cool and Natural; or by understanding its direction i.e. Inwards, Outwards, Downwards, Upwards. These qualities can also be affected by the way the food is cooked. Eating habits are very important for proper digestion, so regular meals should be taken with slow and mindful eating, using a variety of food. The quantity of it will also affect how the body processes that food to nourish our body.

Bitter is the taste of the Fire Element. Bitter food improves appetite, stimulates digestion and draws out phlegm. In excess, the bitter food can weaken the energy (Qi) and dry the moisture within us.
The diet of FIRE calls for plenty of cooling salads, greens and fruits with a good fluid intake. A lot of fresh food is available in the summer and this variety should be enjoyed to its full. Flavours can include some bitter foods which help calm the heart.

Rye, Asparagus, Caper, Chicory, Kale, Kohlrabi, Lettuce, Rhubarb, Pumpkin Seeds, Lamb, Liver, Parsley, White Pepper, Thyme, Turmeric, Black or Green Tea, Coffee, Beer, asparagus, celery, rye and alfalfa.

Fire

Each element possesses distinct characteristics. The first element, fire, is the most masculine of the five elements. Therefore, it is considered very yang. Fire’s planet is Mars, the intense red planet. Fire’s season is summer, the time of heat, growth, warmth, and increased light. Fire corresponds to the three earthly branches of summertime: Serpent (May), Horse (June) and Sheep Fire’s direction is south. Fire’s position on the feng shui ba-gua represents fame and illumination. Fire’s tri-gram is two solid lines above and below a broken line. Fire’s symbol is a red Phoenix.

Although fire is considered a very yang element in general, it can exist in either a yang or a yin state because in Taoism all things have both a yin and a yang expression to create balance. When fire expresses masculine yang energy, its color is red and is symbolized by burning wood. When fire expresses feminine yin energy, its color is purple and is symbolized by the flame of a lamp, small and contained, yet helpful.

Fire personality traits are love, passion, leadership, spirituality, insight, dynamism, aggression, intuition, reason, and expressiveness. The fire personality is direct-right out front. A fire type succeeds by becoming warm- hearted and generous. Experiences of love, compassion, fun, joy, and pleasure are healing for fire individuals. The challenge for a fire type is to share joy and laughter without thought of reward.

The emotion associated with fire is happiness. Other heart emotions include joy, vanity, jealousy, frustration, regret, grief from loss of love, and disappointment in relationships.

In traditional Chinese medicine, fire’s body organs are the heart and small intestines. Therefore a fire personality may have a disposition for heart problems, such as heart attacks, or may experience minor digestive problems in the small intestines. The element wood nurtures the element fire; wood’s body organ is the liver. Fire types must avoid alcoholic beverages that heat (over stimulate) the liver. Liver excess is a false way to empower the heart and causes imbalance between fire and wood. Heart illness and fire imbalance can often be read in the face: a cleft in the nose or a too red complexion.
