Whenever I want to connect with those who carved the pathways (to life and death), whenever I desperately need the wisdom of elders, I like to lay myself down on the greatest ancestor we have: Earth.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Earth is the accumulation of our blood, our bones, our grief, our stories, our entire bodies, composted and renewed through the living entity of Earth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Earth is made of us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Earth is our great ancestor - made of all and who that ever was - and what connects us as relations. We are all related. And we share kinship in the trees and in the fields of wheat and in the columbine that grow on the mountainside, and within the stone of the mountains. We are all related through the intricacies of earth’s expression. This should make us want to be better to each other. To treat each other like the soil is a mutual relative of necessity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And so today lets keep it simple.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let’s lay on the Earth, our eldest Elder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s lay on the Earth, who recycles our bodies into life force, who grows us into evergreens and throws us up as Ocotillo, and blooms us out as the apothecary rose. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s just go somewhere, outside, underneath the darkening sky, and lay against your old wise grandmother.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And ask her: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

how can i live right now so that i can die in great celebration without a shake in my heart or a tear in my soul? How can I die this season in a way that makes me want to embrace life hard and full and that each breath I take it swollen with attention and intention and reformation? how can i die so i can live to serve? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
